STEP
1
Take any chord (major,minor,dominant--alteration or extension);
learn its corresponding scale and arpeggio.
STEP 2
Play that chord on any fret and play its scale or arpeggio
as slow or as fast as you feel comfortable.
STEP 3
Repeat STEP 2 on a different fret. As an example--1 fret lower
or higher, 2 frets lower or higher, 4 frets lower or higher,
5 frets, 8 frets, 11 frets, or whatever sounds good to your
ear.
STEP 4
Feel free to play the chord, scale, and/or arpeggio as rhythmically
as you like. Try adding and/or deleting notes of the chord,
scale and/or arpeggio. Remember: It's all about the music.
